Why should I use Treat.ED to find help?
  • It’s effective. Treat.ED helps you find the right professionals to work with in your recovery. Finding the right help makes you more likely to remain in treatment and achieve successful results.
  • It’s convenient. Treat.ED allows you to search for help and reach out from the privacy of your home. If you’ve received a list of professionals from your physician or another referral source, Treat.ED enables you to learn more about these professionals before making your first appointment.
  • It’s private. With Treat.ED, you can search for help and reach out with questions on your own timeline and from your own personal comfort zone.
How does Treat.ED work?

It’s simple, really. First, visit our Directory to search for a professional by specialty, location, and other criteria. Then browse through the professionals who meet your unique needs. Reach out and ask questions. When you find the right match, make an appointment.

Do I have to register with Treat.ED to search for help?

No. You do not have to register with Treat.ED to search for help. You can browse the treatment directory and reach out to listed professionals without registering.

If you want to register, however, you can do so anonymously via our guest registration page. To protect your privacy, you do not need to provide your name to register as a guest. Registering as a guest allows you to “follow” professionals with whom you may be interested in working and also allows you to comment on or like posts on professionals’ social activity walls.

What types of professionals list their practice on Treat.ED?

Treat.ED features profiles of licensed mental health professionals, dietitians, physicians, group practices, and treatment centers which specialize in eating disorder recovery.

Pre-licensed professionals who are practicing under the supervision of a licensed professional are also able to feature their practices on Treat.ED.

How can I verify the license of a professional with whom I'd like to work?

Many states enable you to verify a professional’s license online. Please see our license verification page for a quick list of licensing agencies, organized by profession and state.

Does Treat.ED monitor e-mails I send through myTreatED.com?

No. Although Treat.ED does track the frequency with which the professionals who list with us are contacted, we do not monitor any of the private messages which may be sent through Treat.ED or collect information from those who use Treat.ED to search for help.

I'd like read more about eating disorders. Can you point me to some helpful books or articles?

We also invite all of the professionals listed in our Directory to write articles that can be found on Treat.ED’s blog. These articles are also listed directly on the authors’ profiles.

If you are in crisis or are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, or if you feel suicidal or are in danger of hurting yourself, please get immediate help. Call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact an emergency/crisis hotline.

Am I eligible to join Treat.ED’s professional network?

Treat.ED is open to licensed mental health professionals, dietitians, physicians, group practices, and treatment centers which specialize in eating disorder recovery.

Treat.ED is also open to pre-licensed professionals practicing under the supervision of a licensed professional.

What type of audience does Treat.ED have?

Every day, Treat.ED reaches a growing audience of over 30,000 through our website and strong social media presence.

Who visits Treat.ED?

Every day, Treat.ED reaches a growing daily audience of over 30,000. Visitors to Treat.ED come to us after seeing information about our service on mental health and psychology related forums and as a result of our advertising and social networking efforts which are directed to those who have expressed an interest in eating disorder recovery.

Treat.ED also partners with schools and medical practices across the country as a resource that they can turn to when looking for treatment for those they serve.

I’m already listed in another directory. Why should I join Treat.ED?

Unlike other services, Treat.ED is a free service specifically focused on eating disorder recovery. This specialized focus allows us to most effectively match your practice with those seeking your services. Membership is free.

Additionally, Treat.ED offers a variety of features not currently offered by other directory services:

  • The ability to add unlimited pictures and videos to your profile;
  • A social activity wall where you can post further information about your practice – or anything else that might help potential clients learn more about you and how you work;
  • The ability to upload multiple documents (such as intake forms, practice policies, etc.) that potential clients should review prior to their first appointment directly to your profile;
  • A section linking your original articles directly to your profile;
  • The ability to post groups or other events you are offering directly to your profile;
  • Authors can add books to our online shop;
  • Personalized introductions across all of our social media networks;
  • A bulletin board exclusively for treatment providers to facilitate discussion and networking among eating disorder professionals (in development).

Treat.ED also gives back to those we all serve: Twenty-five percent (25%) of all of our profits are donated to organizations that provide financial assistance to those seeking eating disorder recovery.

Will I be able to update my profile information after signing up?

Of course! Once you have signed up, you will be directed to create and submit your profile listing. To make updates and changes to your profile, simply login to your account section and select “Edit Listing.” You can update your profile whenever you want, wherever your want, and as often as you want. (Just remember to click on “Update Profile” to save your changes!)

How long will it take for my profile to be activated?

Your profile will be active immediately once you complete and submit your profile details. We encourage you to complete your profile with as much detail and personality as possible. Detail and personalization help you stand out and showcase your unique practice to potential clients.

In what order are profiles displayed?

Profiles are shown in order based on your last login. This approach provides you with control over where your profile shows up in the search results.

Can I add pictures and videos to my profile?

Yes! You can add an unlimited number of pictures and videos to your Treat.ED profile.

Can I add documents to my profile?

Absolutely! You can add documents (in .pdf, .doc, and .docx format)  to your profile. These can include any documents that potential clients might find useful about you and your practice. Popular examples include:

  • Resumes/CVs
  • Practice policies
  • Intake paperwork
  • Emergency contact forms
Can I list groups I'm offering to my profile?

Yes! You can add any groups or other events that you are offering directly to your profile.

Is it possible to link my original articles to my profile? What about books I've written?

Of course! Any original articles that you write can be added directly to your profile. Writing articles and adding them to your profile is a great way to expose your practice to potential clients. Additionally, you will receive a 5% discount (per article, up to 4 articles) on your next listing as a “Thank You” for your contributions.

You can also add any books you have authored to our online shop.

How much does Treat.ED cost?

Membership in Treat.ED’s directory is absolutely free.
