I believe that full recovery is possible. Together I work with clients to help them transition to a life dictated by food and weight to one that is characterized by freedom and connection. My aim is to help individuals accomplish more than cessation of behaviors but to truly help them connect to a life worth living. Many individuals I work with feel hopeless due to length of time in the disorder or failure of past treatments. I offer up-to-date treatment and experience that brings with it a renewed sense of hope.
I have experience working in treatment facilities specializing in eating disorders, addiction, and trauma. I am a trained EMDR therapist. This therapy helps address negative core beliefs such "I'm not good enough" or "I have to be perfect" that have kept clients tied to their disorder. In addition to EMDR, I utilize therapies such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Family Based Therapy to provide comprehensive treatment for my clients and their families.
I am actively involved in the community staying up to date on the most current research for effective treatment. I serve as the Research Chairperson on the board for the International Association of Eating Disorder Professional's Alabama chapter and am on the committee for Alabama's National Eating Disorder Association Walk.
